Everlee got him a book (Glenn Beck's new book 'Cowards') because he just needs another reason to be angry at the government- ha! She also got him a bonsai tree, random I know. For as long as I've known Greg he has always thought they were really cool. What Everlee didn't know was that having a bonsai tree is like having another child in the house. This thing is HIGH MAINTENANCE, seriously, it needs more love and affection than Everlee and I put together! Needless to say, he thinks it's pretty cool, which is just another reason why I love the nerd I married!
On Sunday at church we also were excited to participate in a baby dedication. Pretty cool that it fell on Father's Day this year! Greg and I have been talking for weeks on what passage/verse to read at her dedication. We wanted to focus it on God's promises the Bible is all about His promises so how do we decide which would fit for the baby dedication...we prayed and prayed about it. Greg and I agreed that Psalm 127 was perfect for us.
"Unless the Lord builds the house,
those who build it labor in vain.
Unless the Lord watches over the city,
the watchman stays awake in vain.
those who build it labor in vain.
Unless the Lord watches over the city,
the watchman stays awake in vain.
It is in vain that you rise up early
and go late to rest,
eating the bread of anxious toil;
for he gives to his beloved sleep.
and go late to rest,
eating the bread of anxious toil;
for he gives to his beloved sleep.
Behold, children are a heritage from the Lord,
the fruit of the womb a reward.
the fruit of the womb a reward.
Like arrows in the hand of a warrior
are the children of one's youth.
are the children of one's youth.
Blessed is the man
who fills his quiver with them!
He shall not be put to shame
when he speaks with his enemies in the gate."
who fills his quiver with them!
He shall not be put to shame
when he speaks with his enemies in the gate."

After we went home and took a nap, our Sunday tradition, we got ready to spend the evening with some family. We went downtown and took a long walk on the greenbelt and then to Fancy Freeze for ice cream (or a burger and fries for the lactose intolerant).
SPH is a must for both of us, it just doesn't look very glamorous putting it on... |
HAPPY FATHER'S DAY!
Sweetness!
ReplyDeleteHurray for marrying men who became wonderful fathers {and hurray to their fathers for raising them to be such great men}!
So happy we got to be there to see little miss dedicated. What a blessing that she has you two as parents and is surrounded by such wonderful family to raise her up in the Lord!
I'm sorry we missed out on the family adventure, it looks like it was great fun!
XOXO
That Everlee is going to be a political science major, I just know it ;) It looks like you had a fabulous father's day! I love the passage you chose for her dedication & as impossible as it seems she gets cuter and cuter every day. I love the photo of all the "T" women, so sweet!
