Decisions, Decisions...

*Warning* This is a random post!

Greg and I decided a few months ago to start saving for a "nicer" camera. We love our point and shoot but with the baby coming we thought it would be nice to have something that would capture really good quality photos.

This whole camera/photography world is a little scary. ISO, CMOS sensor, aperture...you may as well be speaking a different language! The only thing I understood before was Megapixels, HD Video and the price tag, oh and that I get to buy a adorable Knitty Bitties camera strap! I'm starting to get a better understanding and with some research (what would we do without the internet- that Al Gore really knew what he was doing, am I right?!) and with some help from a very talented photographer and good friend Jamie Hudson
I think we have it narrowed down.
Nikon D3100

Canon EOS Rebel T1i
They are both really similar in price and capability. There is a pretty big learning curve since all I've used is a little point and shoot but I think I can do it! Now we just have to make the decision...Do any of you have any suggestions? What do you like/dislike about your cameras? I'm open to hearing opinions!!

Well that was a pretty boring post...my apologies...onto something a little more fun...

Another decision coming soon...in 9 days we get to find out if this little one is a HE or a SHE!
This picture just makes him/her look like a gummy bear but trust me this little person has arms and legs that are doing cartwheels right on my bladder now, and I know it's only the beginning!

Well, I think we should have a good ol' fashioned guessing game... You have a week to decide if I'm having a boy or a girl, for those who guess right I'll put your name in for a little sumthin' sumthin'! Just comment on this post and I'll come back on the 28th and post the winner!

Even though every pregnancy is different I've heard  A LOT of different ways you can apparently tell if you are having a boy or a girl...heart beat, cravings...etc. Here are some things that might help you guess!

Heartbeat: Between 152 and 154
Cravings: Anything salty and eggs- which is not entirely different from my non-pregnant cravings!
Skin: No breakouts, my skin has pretty clear actually.
Morning Sickness: None! Don't hate me...I feel really blessed to have not been sick at all.

There are some other pretty personal ones that I'll spare you the details on...but those are the ones that seem to be ones people ask most about.

The next decision will be...NAMES! Seriously, did anyone else think this was a hard decision or is it just me? It's a lot of pressure!

I think that is enough randomness for a day! Weekend here I come!

  1. Hurray for the weekend.
And gosh, I'm glad you didn't wait around for me to get back to you about the camera, LOL. But the Canon is the one I would have recommended to you. I think Nikon is great too ... it's a preference ... Matt could tell you one way or the other?!?
I can't wait to find out if I have a great niece or nephew ... either will be wonderful. Someone told me today she's pretty excited to get to be there to find out ;).
My guess is a girl. Based on nothing but a guess ;).
I love helping with names, so I'll send you lots of those once we know :).

    Enjoy your weekend!! Loves!

  2. You're a glutton for punishment asking for all this advice!
I was going to say "Ask Matt" about the camera. :)
YAY! for 20 week ultrasounds! WOO HOO! Can't wait to find out what you're having. I'm guessing BOY because there seem to be SO MANY Taddicken boys around!
Names are hard the first time around. I'll tell you how Mike and I decided next time I see you. It's too long to type out (i say at the end of a really long comment! ha!)

  3. I personally love Canons. I like my "nicer" Canon. It takes great pics and friendly to use. The school bought us Nikons and I do not love it. It just feels cheaper. That's my 2 cents. I'll get back to you on the boy/girl thing.

  6. I think this just proves that your 'side effects' of pregnancy have no bearing on what you're having. So far you and I have had almost identical pregnancies and I got the opposite of you :). I bet it just means you're getting a little girl as wonderful as my little guy ;).
