Wednesday Random

The last week has been filled with a lot!

~Birthday celebrations, Thanksgiving, long nights with a sickie and more recently a fun night of BUNKO with my favorite people!

~Little miss Everlee has been running a fever between 101-103 almost 104 for a few days! Yikes!
She went to the doctor yesterday and he went through all the checks and she was fine except a fever. I thought we would be out of there but then he said she might have a UTI... because I have been working for a Urology practice for 7 years I knew what that meant, they would have to catheterize her to get a urine sample. That was the hardest thing to watch! Ugh! My momma heart just ached while I had to watch that happen. She was a CHAMP! I think the doctor was more concerned about me. No UTI...just sick! Luckily, she woke up this morning with no fever and she is back to her normal self bossing me around like she owns the place. Which, lets be honest, she kind of does. :)

~I never got a chance to post about our Thanksgiving, probably because I gave the camera to Greg and there were more taken of a little weasel he saw outside then people, awesome.

I think this every year but why don't we take a picture BEFORE eating?! We wouldn't look like a bunch of zombies...

Love this picture, my cousin Tucker with Grandma. This kid seriously cracks me up! Love him.

There he is, in the middle. Fascinating right?! There were 20+ pictures of him!
~Lastly, I know I say this all the time through many social networking outlets but I LOVE my bunko group! I love how we all can just laugh and be ourselves! I just love them to pieces!

What's my motivation?

Our church started a new sermon series a few weeks ago in Zechariah. For me, it's been hard to read on my own, lots of visions, dreams...etc. However, like in our own lives it has a theme of God's people not listening (shocking right?!) and turning from Him.

Zechariah 7:13 " 'When I called, they did not listen; so when they called, I would not listen', says the Lord Almighty."

The scripture also has a bigger theme of God's promise for a Messiah!

Zechariah 9:9 "Rejoice greatly, O Daughter of Zion! Shout, Daughter of Jerusalem! See, your king comes to you, righteous and having salvation, gentle and riding on a donkey, on a colt, the foal of a donkey."

Our church hasn't gotten to this point of the book yet, we actually left off in kind of a depressing part of the book. Where God basically calls out His people because they were worshiping for the wrong reasons. They were doing all things for themselves not for God
This comment made me slouch in my seat a little...

What is my motive when I worship?! Not only that but do I serve and worship with grumbling?!
Would God call me out like He did with His people?

I've been encouraged to take a step back and check my heart attitude. Especially this time of year. It's crazy busy all the time and we are celebrating God sending His Son! Hello?! Why am I stressing about what I need to get for Christmas presents?

Not only am I encouraged to reflect on my heart attitude about serving and worshiping God but I'm also striving to look at how I serve my family and friends. It's not that I need to get something out of it but how I can be there for them. It's not about me (except for tomorrow for my birthday :) )

I'm encouraged to wake everyday and check myself with "What's my motivation?!"
Because in the end Christ is coming back and peace and truth will rule!

Zechariah 13:9 "This third I will bring into the fire; I will refine them like silver and test them like gold. They will call on my name and I will answer them; I will say, 'They are my people,' and they will say, 'The LORD is our God.'"

Thankful {Days 9-11}

Yeesh I have some catch-up to do. Instead of picking something each day I'm going to combine, and since there really aren't any rules...who cares right?!

I'm thankful for our church

This weekend Greg and I had the opportunity to go up to McCall for a quick leadership retreat with our church. Our church has been in transition the last year and as anyone knows, change and transition can be hard. It's hard but most of the time beneficial in the long run. For me this weekend was filled with hope and peace that as a church body we are moving in the right direction and most importantly we are doing it with Christ as the leader.

When you go to a leadership retreat there are always a lot of ideas thrown around and historically most of these never come to fruition. However, I'm so encouraged by our church because left with an actual direction...hello...awesome! Now, not everything will come out how we would like it but ultimately there was excitement to move forward and serve God!

Thankful {Days 7&8}

Well the last couple days seem to have been filled with political DRAMA and some may say it's hard to find something to be thankful for after the outcome of the 2012 elections. I don't think that is the case if you focus on our God who is in charge!

Day 7-
I'm thankful for my God who is in control and has a plan (even if I don't know or really understand it!)

Day 8-
I'm thankful for the Starbucks barista who made too much Soy Peppermint Mocha and gave me 2!

Thankful {Day 6}

Election day is here! I haven't been as stressed about this election as I have in the past. I just keep reminding myself that whatever happens it's all a part of God's plan and we have to continue to trust in Him.

Andrea posted a great verse this morning on Facebook that I thought I'd share too-

Romans 13:1
Let every person be subject to the governing authorities. For there is no authority except from God, and those that exist have been instituted by God.

This is a perfect reminder as the election goes on, we need remember this whatever the outcome of today!

Today I'm thankful that God is in charge!

Thankful {Day 4 & 5}

Day 4-

I'm thankful for family who are also friends! We got to spend the afternoon with Greg's aunt and uncle. After church we went and ate some yummy food and watched a great movie "Chasing Mavericks" It was fun to get to spend the day with these guys! I'm thankful they are not only our family but our good friends too!

Day 5-

Because it's Monday today I'm thankful for Young Life! Most of you know how much of an impact Young Life was and still is in my life. I've been leading at Meridian High for about 5 years now and just LOVE it! If you want to learn more about Young Life go to www.younglife.org

Thankful {Day 3}

It's been quiet in our home today, Everlee took a 4 hour nap, Greg and I drank coffee and hung around the house most of the day, it was a beautiful, much needed "lazy" day!

Then we all decided to venture to Chick-fil-a for dinner, and I do have to say it was Yum-o! I've never been and it was pretty good. I do have to say it was a little greasy for my taste but maybe that is the goodness of it! For as crazy busy as it was (there were at least 20 cars in the drive-thru and about 15 people in line) we got our food in less than 10 minutes and the service was excellent!

This thankful post is surprisingly not for Chick-fil-a, I'm thankful for that and all...

I'm thankful for our home-
It's not big, or small or perfect by any means and there are lots of things that I wish were different but there is something special about your first home as a married couple that is just plain perfect. I'm sure I'm not the only one who feels this way about their first home but I was thinking about all the memories, sweat, and tears that we have poured into this home the last 5 years and they are all worth being thankful for!

Thankful {Day 2}

Well our little home has a mean case of the grumps, we are all just tired, Everlee is getting her first molar (ouch!), Greg is still working like crazy and isn't feeling to great...

BUT today is FRIDAY! Which means we get a bit of a mini-vacation!

Today I'm Thankful for Weekends!

Thankful {Day 1}

Last year I started the Thankful Days in November a little late, which is completly normal for me to be late with and for most things so I'm really impressed with myself that I'm on time with this one!

Thankful Day 1-
Today I'm extra thankful for Greg. Since his first work trip in May he has been out of town since this last week. He has come home for a few days in between but all in all he has been gone a lot.
It's so hard on all of us when he is gone, I think mostly him! We've grown a lot in our marriage the last few months and I'm so thankful for how hard he works for us. I'm also thankful that he is home for awhile now, Everlee is too!

This was from our church Harvest Carnival last night. As you can see Greg just came from work after just getting back the night before. He is trooper!
